Diagnostic procedures

For the choice of your most suitable treatment, establishing a Chinese diagnosis is essential. It is very important for me to get an accurate picture of the condition of your body. The diagnosis consists of three parts: the anamnesis interview, the pulse diagnosis and the tongue diagnosis.

Anamnesis interview

At your first visit in my practice we will conduct a comprehensive conversation. I will interview you about your current condition as well as about all of your physiological functions. This interview is a crucial part and takes approximately 30 minutes. You will find that some questions are repeated before every new treatment. This is important for detecting changes during the therapy and adapting the treatment plan accordingly.

Pulse diagnosis

The quality of your pulse tells a lot about your general health condition. At your wrists (Arteria radialis) six pulse points are located, of which each is designated to an organ. The quality of the pulse at a specific location indicates the health condition of the respective organ. In Chinese medicine 28 different pulse qualities are known. Prior to each therapy session I will feel your pulses and assign them to specific qualities.

Tongue diagnosis

Like the pulse, the tongue provides various information about the general condition of your body. For the tongue diagnosis I'm intereseted in its colour, shape and coating. Therefore, it is useful to abstain from eating and drinking shortly before the therapy session.
